Dear Parents,
The other members of the Auburn North staff and I hope you and your families are well.
A PARENT LETTER SAYS IT ALL
Last year one of our wonderful families moved to a suburb that is about a 40-minute drive from Auburn North. The family has three delightful sons. The two eldest boys are achieving outstanding outcomes in high school after graduating from Auburn North. The youngest son was in Year 4 at Auburn North last year but transferred to the local public school to finish his primary education.
Earlier this term the mother of the three boys contacted me and asked if her youngest son, who is in Year 5 this year, could return to Auburn North. While the mother and son had no complaints about the local public school, the mother told me her son was missing his Auburn North friends and teachers and our school’s special calm and respectful culture.
After seeking and receiving permission from the principal of the local school, I was more than happy for this lovely boy to return to HIS SCHOOL.
The father of the student sent a letter to Auburn North last week. The letter reinforces my belief that Auburn North Public School is ‘THE BEST OF ALL WORLDS’ for each one of our students.
With the father’s permission, I have reproduced his letter below.
"Dear Mr Harris,
I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude to you and the entire staff at Auburn North Public School for facilitating my child’s return to the school he previously attended. Your support and understanding have made a world of difference to us.
When my son first attended Auburn North Public School, he developed strong connections with both his peers and the staff. These bonds, along with the familiar environment, played a significant role in his happiness and academic success. The opportunity for my child to return to this supportive community is invaluable, and I am deeply appreciative of the efforts made to accommodate this request.
The smooth transition back to the school has been a positive experience for my son, who has already expressed how comforting it is to be back in a familiar setting. This would not have been possible without your consideration and the collaborative efforts of the school's staff.
Please extend my sincere thanks to everyone involved in making this possible. Auburn North Public School has always been a place where my child feels safe, encouraged, and motivated to learn, and I am grateful that he can continue his educational journey.
Thank you once again for your kindness and support.”
THREE-WAY CONFERENCES
As you know, our very important semester two three-way conferences are being held over the next two weeks. I hope you have made an appointment to meet with your child and their classroom teacher.
These conferences provide the opportunity for:
1. Teachers, parents, and students to continue to develop trusting, mutually respectful and productive relationships.
2. Students and teachers to explain to and show parents some of the excellent outcomes students have achieved so far this year.
3. Students, teachers, and parents to collaboratively develop goals for the students to achieve before the end of this year.
4. Students, teachers, and parents to collaboratively decide how these goals are going to be achieved.
If you have not already booked a conference, I encourage you to return your conference time request form as soon as possible.

CLASS REPORTS
For your reading pleasure, please find in this newsletter class reports from 2M and 6/5N. I would like to thank and congratulate 2M students and 6/5N students and their teachers Mrs McBriarty and Ms NG.
2M Class Report
2M has had a fabulous time learning throughout the year and has had many memorable moments. One of their favourite days in Term 3 was the Book Week celebrations because the students could wear an outfit representing their favourite book.
Literacy
In Term 3, literacy involves students writing narrative stories using imaginative picture prompts. We have learnt how to plan the steps for writing and how to structure a narrative. Students have enjoyed creating entertaining problems in their narratives and then creatively solving them. Each week students publish their work either using their best handwriting or using technology to publish in their Google Classroom.
Students continue to develop their phonics knowledge through engaging phonics lessons which are helping them to soar when reading.
2M also enjoy playing ‘Grammar Rules’ to build our grammatical knowledge.
Maths
Maths is always fun, whether learning in the 2M classroom or in maths groups. We have been learning skills to help us with addition and subtraction such as bonds of 10, doubles, near doubles and counting on and back.
In Term 2, we learnt to use the jump strategy, which was quite challenging, and in Term 3 we added another strategy called the split strategy. The 2M students would love to show you how to complete these strategies, so please ask them.
In Term 3, 2M has started to look at place value and quarter to and quarter past time, as well as arrays.
Maths groups are always an exciting day as the 2M students love the challenges that teachers create for them.
2M are very excited for the rest of Year 2 and to continue to learn in maths.
Other Key Learning Areas
2M students have been working on improving their computer skills through ICT lessons where they have been focusing on Google Docs and Google Slides. They have been learning how to interpret and locate places across a range of scales in geography.
Science has been engaging and interactive as students learn about forces, which links to their very exciting excursion which occurred this week.
Mrs McBriarty has really enjoyed the excellent results our students have produced with their hard work and determination this year and is excited to continue this learning with many engaging learning experiences for our students.

6/5N Report
6/5N has had a fantastic Term 3. We have been learning to write fractured fairytales in literacy, dive deeper into multiplication and division in numeracy, enjoyed our peer support lessons with our kindergarten friends, and celebrated a huge event of the year which was, Book Week!
Literacy
In literacy, we have been learning to write fractured fairytales. Fractured fairytales are when we put our own spin on popular and familiar fairytales that we have read, such as 'Cinderella' and 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears.' Some ways that we have fractured our fairytales is writing them from a different point of view. This includes writing what happened from the bear’s perspective, or changing the characters in our story, like 'Bearilocks and the Family,' where the bear breaks into the family’s home.
We cannot wait to write our fractured fairytale on 'Little Red Riding Hood' because we will be creating a multimodal text using iPads and the StopMotion app which we are really excited about.
Peer Support
We have been really enjoying our peer support lessons with our Kindergarten friends this term as we teach them digital technology skills. We have been helping our Kindergarten friends use a mouse to move their cursor and click, use a keyboard to login to the laptop and type a decodable sentence, and change the font, size and colour of their writing.
Our Kindergarten students’ faces lit up when they realised all the cool things they could do with their writing!
We are so proud of how far our Kindergarten friends have come with their digital technology skills and we feel proud of ourselves for how well we have been working with them.

Book Week
Book Week was such a fun celebration. We got dressed up as our favourite book characters – some of us had costumes that were bought and some of us got super creative and made our own costumes. We had a scavenger hunt where we had to look for answers to questions based off well-known books and books we have studied in literacy, we participated in fun classroom activities such as creating our own fairytale, and we had a stage 3 character parade where we got to show off our costumes and pose for the camera with our friends.
We cannot believe that it is already more than half-way through Term 3. For some of us, we are more than half-way to becoming the new leaders of the school, and for others, we are more than half-way to starting high school.
We cannot wait to see what the rest of the year brings, and we will definitely be making the most of it by doing our best and a little bit more!
