Dear Parents,
We are regularly contacted by people from the education sector and other sectors within our society asking if they can visit our school to learn about the leadership, teaching, learning, and parent engagement programs we have developed and implemented that have contributed to our students achieving outstanding learning, social, emotional, and physical outcomes.
Last week we welcomed to our school a leader from the Federation of the Parents and Citizens Association, a relieving principal of a high school, and a leader from the private sector. During their visit they presented principal’s awards to some students, visited Harmony House, listened to information about some of our school’s excellent programs, and met four of our students.
At the conclusion of their visit, these three people were glowing in their praise of the way in which all members of our school learning community are working together so positively, cohesively, and harmoniously to assist our delightful students grow into outstanding, successful young people.
The day after the visit, all three visitors sent an email to our school thanking us for our hospitality and for sharing information about our school with them. Please find below one of the emails that we received.
Dear Auburn North, I want to thank you and your team very much for the time you all took to engage with me today. I learnt a lot from the discussion and presentations and really appreciate seeing the open and productive culture that you and your team demonstrate which certainly from my experience, is quite unique. It will be great for our community to continue to see very positive and productive children who developed in your school as they evolve into great citizens. I will certainly take up your offer to continue to communicate as things evolve. Regards, Robert |
During the visit, four of our students presented short speeches explaining why they love being members of the Auburn North FAMILY. Please enjoy reading extracts from these four speeches.
I love Auburn North Public School because it provides the best learning experiences for the 21st century. I am proud to be a member of the ANPS family as we are a great community together and learn from each other. Bareerah |
How Has Auburn North Changed Me? Three years ago before coming to Auburn North, my family and I lived in another area in another state. We didn’t feel too welcome there and made me question that maybe I didn’t belong here in Australia. However, when my family and I moved to Auburn and I started to come to Auburn North Public School, my whole opinion about Australia changed. I realised that it doesn’t matter who we are, where we come from, or what we believe in. At Auburn North we are all accepted because, at the end of the day, we are all human beings. Saeeda |
Good morning Special Guests, Today, I would like to share with you why ANPS is special to me. Auburn North is a very multicultural school. It’s definitely the perfect mix. We have students from different backgrounds and we get to share our experiences with each other. I’d also like to mention my mother used to attend ANPS many, many years ago. So did my aunty and uncle. We’re all proud to be members of the Auburn North family. Our teachers, students and parents have an awesome bond. This is developed through 3-way conferences and accessing school apps. The students at Auburn North achieve outstanding academic results. A gold badge is awarded to those students showing consistent effort and attendance, who wear their school uniform, and who achieve excellence. I personally look forward to each gold badge assembly, and look forward to being rewarded with a fun excursion to the movies at the end of the year. Finally, we are so fortunate to have the amazing Harmony House. Mrs Daujotis organises wonderful programs that bring our school community together. Daniel |

Book Week is the longest running children’s festival in Australia. The theme of Book Week 2019 is ‘Reading Is My Secret Power’. This theme encourages students to realise that books are full of knowledge and having knowledge is like having a secret power.
Parents and friends are invited to join us on Thursday 22nd August.
We have some exciting activities planned which celebrate the importance of reading.
Dress up as a character from a book:
All students, teachers and parents are encouraged to dress up as a character from one of their favourite books. This has been a very enjoyable Auburn North tradition for the past several years. Students do not need to buy anything to wear and are encouraged to think creatively about how they can wear what they have at home. To show off all the wonderful costumes there will be a character parade in the hall.
Have a look at the school website gallery for pictures from past Book Weeks to see how simple costumes can be.
All parents are invited to participate in our Character Parade celebrations which are on at the following times.

K-1 Character parade in Hall |
12.00-1.30pm |

6M have had a busy start to the term! We are strengthening our 21st Century learning skills of communication, collaboration and creativity through a number of Key Learning Areas:
Communication: We present information in a variety of different ways to develop our communication skills. This year we have presented information about the Earth’s surface and natural disasters in science. We have used Flip cameras, PowerPoint and posters to complement our presentations to our peers. This term we are continuing to improve our communication skills while learning about other places, people and cultures in geography.

Collaboration: We work effectively in a team to learn from each other. This term we are working as one team to learn about the states of matter in science – we are investigating materials, describing their properties and conducting experiments to change or manipulate their state. We began our learning about this in Term 2 with our science incursion and are continuing our collaborative investigation this term.

Creativity: We use our own imagination and ideas to create new things and solve problems. We were inspired by the artistic talent in our school as displayed in the Auburn North Art Gallery. We loved visiting the Art Gallery and were particularly amazed by the secret talents of many of our teachers! We are currently working on our Book Week artworks, and our experience appreciating the pieces in the Art Gallery has given us some great ideas!

Thank you for reading about the exciting learning happening in 6M!
2M have kick started term three with a bang! After weeks of waiting for the Athletics Carnival we were finally able to go and enjoy a day of sun, racing and games with our teachers, parents and friends. We showed such great character as we supported our friends and tried our hardest in all activates!

By week two, we settled back into routine and began Writing Jungles. This term we are learning to compose narratives! We need to plan and write an orientation, complication and resolution before we edit, review and publish our narratives. I know that many of the students can’t wait to unleash their creativity!

We have also been busy creating the year 2 art showcase to be displayed in the library for book week. All the year two classes have been thinking creatively during visual arts to make many different types of insects and bugs to prepare for the showcase. The students have loved learning about different insects and making them. We can’t wait to see the final design in week 5!
