Dear Parents,
We believe every week at Auburn North is Education Week because of the outstanding education that is provided every week for our students, staff, and parents. However, we believe it is important to celebrate the annual Education Week program along with every other NSW public school.
We also believe every week at Auburn North is Book Week because every day of every week we encourage children to love books and love reading and we assist them develop the skills to become fluent, appreciative readers. Like Education Week, we believe it is also important to celebrate the annual Book Week program along with every other NSW public school.
I think all students, parents, and staff would agree that this year's Education Week program and Book Week program were our school's BEST-EVER!!
Please find below an Education Week report from Mrs Ambour, who led the coordination of our 2019 Education Week program and Ms Gerdes, who led the coordination of our 2019 Book Week program.

Education Week is an annual celebration of Public Education across NSW. It was held from the 5th-9th August this year and this year's theme was 'Every student, every voice'. At Auburn North PS we invited parents into classrooms where they participated in lessons with their children and for the first time we held the Auburn North PS Art Gallery.
The Auburn North Art Gallery was displayed during Education Week to celebrate the achievements of students and teachers. We proudly displayed a variety of art from students in kindergarten all the way through to year 6. We created this gallery to showcase work from our incredibly talented students who are gifted with skills in visual arts.
All students at Auburn North are talented in visual arts so many other pieces were displayed in classrooms and open areas.
We thank you for taking the time to explore the creative skills of students and teachers during the Art Gallery.

Mrs Bourizk
On Thursday 22nd August, Auburn North staff, students and parents celebrated Book Week. There were character parades, scavenger hunts, and a wide range of fun activities in classrooms.
Book Week is the longest running children’s festival in Australia. The theme of Book Week this year was ‘Reading Is My Secret Power’. This theme encouraged students to realise that books are full of knowledge and having knowledge is like having a secret power.
Throughout the day there were three character parades, where students, teachers and parents had an opportunity to show off their wonderful costumes. Participants paraded up and down the hall to music. The prize winners of the competitions from each grade were also announced.

Students also participated in a scavenger hunt. Students completed activities or answered questions from different locations around the school. If they were correct they received a piece of a puzzle which they were able to put together later in the day.

Each grade produced some amazing artworks which are now displayed in the library. These artworks are related to one of the Childrens book Council of Australia (CBCA) shortlisted books.

In our amazing school,
ANPS we sadly do not have a pool,
But this is still a fabulous, great school!
We all use amazing teamwork,
So then we can make the happy dream work.
If you want to hear an incredibly interesting story,
Ask the magnificent Miss McGrory!
We never ever rest,
Because we do our very best!
In 1W, we practice our maths targets daily for 10 minutes before our regular maths lesson. We call this time, ‘TEN time’. This week, 1W students have been hard at work learning their Friends of 10. A friend of 10 is two numbers that add to 10. For example, 6+4=10.
Some students have mastered their Friends of 10 and have started learning their Friends of 20. They are so clever!
Next week we are going to use our Friends of 10 skills to help us take away. For example, 10–6=4.
