Dear Parents,
As you know, our 2018-2020 school Vision for our school is to become:
‘Australia’s most outstanding future-focused learning community.’
The Vision means that we believe if our students are going to be successful now, in the future and for the rest of their lives then between now and the time they graduate from Auburn North they must develop OUTSTANDING:
- ‘Basic Skills’ in Literacy and Numeracy
- ‘Technology Skills’
- ‘21st Century Skills’ such as critical and creative thinking, collaboration and communication.
Our K-6 teachers continually assess each student’s learning to ensure that future programs meet each student’s immediate and future needs and interests. Over the past two weeks I have looked at student learning data for each one of our K-6 students and I am delighted at the progress of each student’s learning since the beginning of the year. Each one of our 685 students is in the process of developing high quality ‘Basic Skills’ and have become very successful learners. You would have received detailed information about your child’s learning during our very successful 3-Way Conferences this week.
Another very important indicator of the quality of our student’s ‘Basic Skills’ is our National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) results for our students who are in year 3 and year 5. Last year we achieved our best-ever NAPLAN results however, I am so proud to inform you that this year’s results are even better than last year’s results and are now our BEST-EVER!!
Some of our school’s 2019 results include:
- Year 3 students outperforming all SIMILAR NSW schools in all five Literacy and Numeracy areas.
- Year 5 students outperforming all SIMILAR NSW schools in all five Literacy and Numeracy areas.
- Year 3 students outperforming ALL average state schools in four of five Literacy and Numeracy areas.
- Year 5 students outperforming ALL average state schools in all five of five Literacy and Numeracy areas.
These truly outstanding performances and our excellent K-6 classroom learning data are the results of a number of factors that include:
- We have assembled the best and most talented team of leaders and teachers I have seen in 39 years in education, all of whom work ever so hard for our students and parents.
- We have developed and implemented exceptional teaching and learning programs and practices.
- Our delightful students are so motivated to always try their hardest and do their very best in their learning.
- Our wonderful parents, who will do anything possible to support their children’s welfare and learning, including actively participating in our Harmony House programs and our ‘Parents as Partners in Learning’ Program.
- The fact that our exceptional Auburn North Family of students, staff and parents live and learn together in perfect harmony.
Congratulations to ALL members of the Auburn North FAMILY.
AUBURN NORTH STARS in the AUBURN REVIEW – ‘Highest Honour For Second Year In A Row’
Our wonderful award-winning school was featured on page three of last week’s Auburn Review newspaper. Please find attached to today’s newsletter a copy of the article and the related photo of some very proud members of our learning community.
LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM
Every day for two weeks of this term 120 of our students participated in the ‘Learn to Swim Program.’ Each student learned to swim and is now confident when swimming. I would like to thank Ms Madison, Ms Harvey-Latham, Mrs Protegeris, and Mr Prendergast for providing our students with the opportunity to develop these essential skills.
WINTER PSSA PROGRAM
More than 100 Auburn North students had the opportunity to participate in the winter Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) program in terms two and three. They further developed their skills in sports such as soccer, newcombe ball, and netball when they trained each week and when they played games with students from other public schools each Friday.
Importantly, they also further developed their sportsmanship skills and had FUN participating in physical activities.
I would like to thank the following teachers who devoted a great deal of their lunchtimes to assist our winter PSSA players enjoy playing sport:
- Ms Collins
- Mrs Varley
- Mrs Tieu
- Ms Harvey-Latham
BEST WISHES MRS HARROUK
Mrs Harrouk commenced maternity leave earlier this week as she awaits the birth of her second baby. We wish Mrs Harrouk all the very best and we look forward to her coming to school next term to proudly show off her little family.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
It has been such a wonderfully successful term for all members of our special Auburn North Public School Learning Community. I would like to thank our dedicated and very talented staff for their professionalism and total commitment to the education and welfare of our most fortunate students and I wish all members of our community a peaceful and relaxing two-week holiday.
