Dear Parents,
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support as we meet the challenges of COVID-19 together.
Our school remains open for all students. However, as explained by the NSW Premier on Monday 23 March, parents are strongly encouraged, where possible to keep their children at home.
Students who are at home for the next two weeks (weeks 10 and 11) should be staying at home under the supervision of their parents or other nominated adults, and should be continuing their learning.
As communicated to you on Monday 23 March, to assist students to learn from home, we have provided learning booklets for students to complete. If your child is at home and you have not yet collected your child’s learning booklet, please call the office on Monday on 9748-1036 to arrange a time to collect it.
If your child is attending school in weeks 10 and 11, you do not need to collect a learning booklet. Your child will complete this learning booklet at school, under teacher supervision.
If you decide that your child will learn from home at any point in weeks 10 and 11, please let your child’s teacher know and they will give you the booklet to take home.
We will continue to communicate important information through Schoolzine. If you need help setting up or using Schoolzine, please contact the school.
We encourage Kindergarten to Year 4 families and staff to use the app ‘Seesaw’, and Years 5 and 6 families and staff to use ‘Class Dojo’, for communication as needed during weeks 10 and 11. If you have questions about your child’s learning booklet, please communicate with their teacher using the relevant app.
Thank you for your understanding and support during this time.
NAPLAN RESULTS and 'MY SCHOOL' Website
You will be aware that the 2020 NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy), which is the only national assessment that all Australian children complete, has been cancelled.
While NAPLAN tests students in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy, it must be emphasised that it is only one measure of student’s learning. Teachers conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and these ongoing assessments are used by teachers to develop future differentiated teaching programs and lessons for students.
Each year in March, the My School website provides information about a school’s performance in NAPLAN the previous year. The website compares a school’s performance with Similar Australian schools and All Australian schools.
I am very proud to inform you that according to the website Auburn North achieved outstanding NAPLAN results last year. They include:
Year 3

3N have had a very exciting beginning to the school year! We have been very busy learning and working as one team to achieve all of our dreams.
During writing this term we have been composing both persuasive and narrative texts. In 3N we are always looking for ways to enhance our writing, to assist with this students have been using a thesaurus during editing to look for more WOW words.

During numeracy lessons students have been demonstrating the skill of collaboration while working with their peers to complete activities. Students are being exposed to a variety of hands on activities to enhance their learning.

In art 3N have been showcasing their creativity! We have been completing a variety of Pete Cromer inspired artworks. Students have been demonstrating determination and persistence as they completed various steps before finalising their artwork.

Welcome to Auburn North Public School to all our friends in KM! We have had a very busy term so far learning half of the letters in the alphabet’s names and sounds. Learning to write numerals, letters and words as well as starting to learn how to read. We have been counting and learning how to make groups in maths and so much more. But best of all we have made new friends.

This week we worked as a team to make a picture using shapes making sure we were kind to others, were able to share and listened to our friends. We made a rocket on wheels which is going to fly to the sun and a hulk robot.

Important: Road Safety Message
It is important that all students are crossing the road safely when arriving at and leaving school each day.
If crossing Adderley Street students must always use the zebra crossing and wait for Johnny to direct them to cross.
If crossing Parramatta Road students must use the pedestrian bridge to cross. Students must not walk down to the traffic lights to cross.
Have you visited ANPS Library Links recently? http://www.anpslibrary.com/
This website was created by Mrs Clift and is continually being updated with new student friendly websites. Students use different pages on Library Links at school and there are many great websites to explore at home too.
If you are at home and want something to read, try the 'Literacy' page where you will find a range of online books.
Would you like to learn to Code? ANPS Library Links also has a selection of age appropriate coding websites for students to try.
