Dear Parents,
I think one of the two messages that are presently displayed on our Parramatta Road and Adderley Street electronic signs says it all. The message is:
‘OUR
STUDENTS, STAFF and PARENTS
ARE SO EXCITED
THAT STUDENTS
HAVE RETURNED FULL-TIME.’
At the end of last week our wonderful teachers were so excited at the thought of their students returning to school full-time this week and, judging by their smiling faces this week, our students shared their teachers’ excitement.
The second message on the electronic signs is:
‘AUBURN NORTH
IS ONE
VERY HAPPY and SUCCESSFUL
SCHOOL LEARNING COMMUNITY.’
Despite all the challenges our students, parents, and staff faced since home-schooling started last term, the Auburn North FAMILY continued to be a very happy and successful school learning community.
I am always proud to say I am a member of the Auburn North FAMILY, however, I have never been as proud as I have been over the past seven school weeks. The reasons for this pride include:
- The caring and nurturing nature of all members of our staff (ie leaders, teachers, office team) was so clear for all to see during this period of time.
- Our leaders and teachers worked so hard and so cohesively together to develop high-quality learning packs, and used technology to connect with students and parents and to assist students engage in their learning at home.
- Our students showed that were committed to their learning by working really hard and to a high quality to complete their learning packs.
- Our parents, as always, demonstrated that they were committed to assisting their children learn effectively from home by providing their children with support when it was necessary.
I believe it is the right time for Auburn North students to return full-time to their school. It has always been my view that primary school students and high school students love structure and routines. I believe they respond positively and successfully when they know they are attending a school that has implemented clear and consistent expectations and procedures that have been developed in their best interests. Auburn North has always successfully implemented clear and consistent expectations and procedures and will continue to do so.
I also believe that students respond positively and learn very successfully in safe and nurturing classrooms where teachers are professional, positive, happy, engaging and motivating. Auburn North students are so fortunate to have these types of classrooms and these types of teachers.
We will continue to follow all advice that is provided by the NSW Department of Education to ensure the continued safety and wellbeing of your children. If there are any changes that you need to know about then we will let you know about those changes as soon as possible.
Welcome Back Mrs Van Vuuren and Mrs Picken
We are delighted that Mrs Van Vuuren and Mrs Picken have returned part-time this term after taking maternity leave. Both teachers gave birth to beautiful little boys. We welcome Baby Leo Van Vuuren and Baby William Picken to their Auburn North FAMILY.
Happy Eid Celebrations
On behalf of all members of the Auburn North family I hope the members of our family who have been celebrating Eid enjoyed a very special time with their family and friends.
Congratulations Mrs Abouraad
Mrs Abouraad, in our school office, has been our school’s excellent relieving school administrative officer (SAO) for the past three years. During this time Mrs Abouraad has become a very important member of the Auburn North family.
Last week we were informed that Mrs Abouraad has been appointed to our school as our second permanent SAO. Mrs Serhan is our other SAO. Congratulations Mrs Abouraad.

Principal
It is more important than ever that parents are able to stay informed with events and changes happening at school. Auburn North PS uses Schoolzine to send out important messages to families.

Schoolzine is an easy to use app where parents can:
- read notifications instantly,
- view the newsletter in full colour and translated into over 100 languages,
- submit absence notes and
- access links to Twitter, the school YouTube channel and ANPS Library links.
If you haven't already done so, we encourage all families to download the Schoolzine app from their app store. If you require any help to set up or use Schoolzine, please ring the office or see Miss Gerdes in the library before school (when parents are able to enter school grounds).
National Simultaneous Storytime
What a week to return to school fulltime!
Every year Auburn North PS participates in National Simultaneous Storytime. This year was a little bit different but on Wednesday 27th May all students participated in a shared reading of a special book along with children from all around the country. This year the NSS book was "Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas" by Luncinda Gifford. The story is about two gorgeous chooks, Whitney and Britney. Dora (the fox) is concerned about where her chooks go each night. Little does she know, they are Whitney and Britney, Chicken Divas!
Students joined in a shared reading of the story and were able to view the story being read by many different well known people. They then participated in some Whitney and Britney craft activities.
Social distancing is still in place. It is important for parents to maintain their social distance when dropping off and picking up students from school. We ask parents to always stay 1.5m apart and not to congregate inside or outside the school.
