Dear Parents,
Research shows and at Auburn North we know, that students learn best when their school's academic programs and wellbeing programs and practices are aligned and support one another. At Auburn North we believe when our students feel happy and confident within themselves and are strongly connected with their teachers and schoolmates, then outstanding learning is a very strong possibility.
If we want our Auburn North students to grow into outstanding and successful young people then it is essential that every day at Auburn North they experience praise, fairness, tolerance, and friendship.
I believe, the poem ' Children Learn What They Live' by Dorothy Law Nolte highlights many of the very positive features of our school and our students.
The poem is displayed in my office and it is reproduced below for your enjoyment.
CHILDREN LEARN WHAT THEY LIVE
'If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement, he learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice.
If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, he learns to find love in the world'.
'Every Week is Education Week at Auburn North Public School'
Last week was Education Week so every day last week during the morning assemblies some of our K-6 students explained to our students, staff, and parents some highlights of the exciting learning they had recently been enjoying.
While we did celebrate the 2022 Education week this way, we really do believe 'Every Week is Education Week at Auburn North Public School' . I wrote an article explaining why we believe this is the case and it was published in last week's 'ParraNews' newspaper.
The article is attached to this newsletter and I encourage you to take the time to read it.

CLASS REPORTS
For your reading pleasure please find attached to this newsletter, class reports from 6H and KS . We would like to thank the 6H students and their teacher, Ms Hamm ,and the KS students and their teacher, Ms Saidi.
Term 3 in 6H is off to a flying start! We are already deep into our novel study on James and the Giant Peach, written by Roald Dahl, and are enjoying reading all the hilarious descriptions of the fascinating characters. 6H are particularly amused by the level of humour Roald Dahl includes in his novels and are taking great inspiration from this.
6H is also exercising their poetic skills this term as they compose poems about nature ready to submit to the Red Room Poetry, Poem Forest competition. This is a brilliant opportunity for students to use their skills in a positive way because regardless of the competition outcome, every entry will have a tree planted in their honour. This means that thanks to 6H there will be 24 new trees providing valuable oxygen and beautifying our environment for us all.
During our Science lessons we are observing the way physical conditions can impact the survival of living things by growing corn seeds. There is much anticipation each morning when we arrive at the classroom to check if there are any seedlings popping up!

This term is also exciting for our leadership development as we participate in Peer Support. 6H are really looking forward to leading their buddy classes, 1KL and 2M, through a range of team building and communication activities that will also help to build our relationships across the K-6 school.
Trees
Roots underground,
Branches up high,
All those green leaves,
Reaching for the sky.
Allowing the nature,
Allowing the wild,
To embrace them beautifully,
Like a toy to a child.
All living things,
Are living off trees,
So why waste paper,
On wants but not needs.

The boys and girls of KS have shown remarkable growth and development in all areas of their learning. Term 3 continues to reflect that same positive and determined attitude that the students have demonstrated all year round.
In literacy, KS students have been working hard to write interesting sentences that include capital letters, spaces between their words and full stops. Students have centred their sentences on a variety of creative stimulus. One such example involved students’ writing about bubbles! The boys and girls worked diligently to produce innovative and inspiring sentences that reflected the writing goals.
In numeracy, students have learned how to identify and create patterns. The KS students have been able to successfully find the missing elements in a variety of different patterns. Students could even make their very own patterns using body percussions!

KS have engaged in a very exciting and challenging obstacle course during sport. The keen students displayed wonderful perseverance and skill to accomplish each task such as balancing, jumping over hurdles and crawling through a dark tunnel. It was so lovely seeing the students gain confidence as they overcame and completed each task. Keep up the good work KS!
