Dear Parents,
The other members of the Auburn North staff and I hope you and your families are well.
I am absolutely delighted with the way our 2024 school year has begun. I met with Mr John Kennedy last week. Mr Kennedy is the Director of our Auburn network of schools that includes 19 other primary and high schools. I explained to Mr Kennedy that our first three weeks this year have been the best and most successful first three weeks in the past 25 years.
Our staff is so proud of all our K-6 students, especially our Kindy students and the year 1 – year 6 students who started at Auburn North this year.
OUR 2021 – 2025 SCHOOL VISION and PLAN
Like all other NSW public schools, at the end of 2020 our school conducted a thorough consultation process to assist in the development of our 2021 – 2025 Strategic Improvement Plan.
The purpose of the consultation process was to:
- Determine what our school learning community was doing well in the areas of leadership, teaching, student wellbeing, student learning, and parent engagement.
- Identify ways our school could improve in these five areas.
- Develop a five-year improvement plan to become an even better school for students, staff, and parents.
This process included parent surveys, meetings with groups of students, staff surveys, and meetings with groups of teachers.
Our 2021 – 2025 Strategic Improvement Plan includes our Vision, our Mission, our Strategic Directions, our Improvement Measures, and information about some of the programs and practices we will be implementing to achieve our vision.
Our 2021 – 2025 Vision is:
“To be a truly outstanding future-focused learning community for all members of the Auburn North Family.”
Importantly, we have defined what ‘future-focused’ means in our Auburn North context and developed Targets to determine if we have become ‘truly outstanding’.
At Auburn North we believe if our students are going to be successful today and tomorrow, and become successful lifelong learners then then they need to develop outstanding:
- Basic Skills in literacy and numeracy;
- Technology Skills; and
- 21st Century Skills such as collaboration, and critical and creative thinking.
We also believe if our students are going to be successful, happy young people they need to live and breathe our six school values of respect, kindness, fairness, honesty, friendship, and responsibility.
Our school learning community believes our leaders, teachers, and parents need to develop the confidence, knowledge, and skills if our students are going to develop the skill set above, and if they are going to live and breathe our values.
A range of programs for leaders, teachers, and parents have been implemented and will continue to be developed and implemented to assist them develop their capacity to assist our students.
A copy of the 2021-2025 Strategic Improvement Plan can be found on our school website.
2024 SCHOOL SAYING
Each year our school develops a ‘SCHOOL SAYING’. The purpose of the ‘School Saying’ is to provide students with a clear focus for their learning, attitude, and behaviour for that particular year. During the first three weeks of each school year, students, staff, and parents can nominate ‘Sayings’ to be considered for selection.
I am very pleased to inform you that our 2024 Saying was suggested by Ms Hamm, one of our school leaders. Our 2024 School Saying is:
“In 2024 get ready to soar,
by doing our best
and then a little bit more.”
I know that each of our students will soon start developing their GOALS and will work harder than ever before to assist them SOAR in 2024. I also know their wonderful teachers are developing high-quality, engaging, harmonious class learning environments that will support each student soar and achieve their very best in 2024.
I encourage all parents to speak with their children and assist them develop a list of Goals that the students would like to achieve this year.

Deputy Principal’s Message
Dear families,
We are very pleased that most of our students wear their full school uniform to school each day. Thank you very much, parents and carers.
We would like to please ask for your support to ensure that all of our students are wearing their full school uniform, including the correct shoes, each day.
As you may know, wearing full school uniform is one of the criteria which must be met for a student to be eligible to receive a Gold Badge. Importantly, wearing the correct full school uniform, including the correct shoes, helps us to:
- define our identity as a school within our community,
- further develop students’ sense of belonging and pride within our school community, and
- reinforce the expectation that our school is an orderly and safe learning environment.
The following table shows what shoes students are expected to wear on regular, non-sport days. Students are able to wear any sports shoes on their sports day.
We kindly ask you to please ensure your child is wearing the correct school uniform, including shoes, if they aren’t already doing so.
Thank you for your support.
Mrs Southgate and Mrs Clift
