Dear Parents,
The other members of the Auburn North staff and I hope you and your families are well.
Next Friday 5th July will be the final day of term 2. A range of evidence shows this term has been an outstanding success in areas such as student wellbeing, student learning, leadership development, teacher professional development, and parent participation.
Having read and signed every student's semester one report, having met all facilitators to discuss each student’s learning in term one and term two, and having analysed the excellent NAPLAN results we have achieved, it is very clear term one and term two have been one of our school’s most outstanding semesters in the 25 years I have been the principal of Auburn North.
I would like to congratulate all students, all staff, and all parents for working together so cohesively and effectively this semester to ensure it has been so successful for all members of our Auburn North FAMILY, especially our wonderful students who really are SOARING by doing their best and a little bit more.

3-6 Mini Olympic Games
On Thursday of week 8, to celebrate the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, years 3-6 at Auburn North Public School participated in an Olympics Fun Day. Each class proudly represented a country from the Australia-Pacific region, and competed in Olympics-themed events.
There was excitement in the air even before the Olympics Day began, with a large team of teachers arriving before school to decorate the COLA with Olympics-themed decorations that the students had created in their classes.
When students began to arrive, in either their official sports uniform or the flag colours of their chosen country, it was clear that the Olympics Day was going to be an incredible day for 3-6.
Opening Ceremony
Our day began with a very exciting opening ceremony. During this ceremony, students paraded with their countries in the COLA. We read aloud an athlete's oath and kicked off the games with a thrilling jog and dance by Monty the Meerkat, our very ‘cool’ mascot.
Events
After the ceremony, our students participated in a variety of tabloid activities to have fun and earn points for their countries. An outline of the games played is attached below.
Countries earned points by demonstrating all of our Auburn North values, along with good sportsmanship. The smiles on the students' faces during these games were priceless!
After the games, classes were encouraged to participate in a range of Olympics-based activities to further immerse them in the spirit of the Olympics.
Winners
Everyone on the day was a winner due to their brilliant effort, sportsmanship, and positive energy. However, there were three classes in stage 2 (years 3 and 4) and three classes in stage 3 (years 5 and 6) that were able to score enough points in the events to earn their class an official Auburn North Olympic Medal at our closing ceremony! Those classes proudly wore their medals in front of the podium, and are displaying them in their classrooms.
